Si6 sampling eeks out shallow Brazilian rare earths find
Si6 Metals has confirmed saprolite clay-hosted rare earths mineralisation along the edge of the Poços de Caldas Alkaline Complex at its Caldera joint venture project in Minas Gerais, with surface sampling returning up to 933ppm total rare earth oxides. Around 24% of that was higher-value magnet rare earth oxides, and neodymium and praseodymium made up an average 94% of the magnet component — the elements that drive demand from electric motors, generators and wind turbines. Because ionic-adsorption clay deposits typically grade lower at surface and improve with depth, Si6 is launching a 26-hole auger program in early April to test the upper clay profile for the extent of the mineralisation.
